Becoming a mother is one of the biggest changes a woman can experience. It involves physical, emotional and relational challenges so it is not surprising that sometimes struggles are involved. Mothers can be surprised by the intensity of reactions that are triggered during this period of transition. Conception, pregnancy, labour and delivery can evoke feelings such as fear, guilt, sadness, shame or even anger. A mother’s important relationships can undergo shifts and strains, even the relationship with her baby.

At Maternal Connections we provide an opportunity to make sense of these experiences and feelings which can be difficult to process on one’s own. We find that mothers benefit from the safe and non judgemental space we provide and approach mothering with greater understanding and pleasure.
